To catch a glimpse into Melanie's life, you
need simply to listen to the message of the songs she sings. From the earliest
memories of singing beside the piano with her dad, to ministering in song
each week at the church her husband pastors, Melanie has always chosen
to speak the message of her heart through the medium of music and song.
Melanie was born near Marquette, Michigan
during her father's term of service in the Air Force, but lived in Illinois
from the age of five years old. With an older sister and two younger brothers,
family life was full of adventure, strong family ties and unwavering faith.
These unshakable foundations of faith and family are the inspiration and
cornerstone behind the songs of hope Melanie sings with such conviction.
Melanie and her husband, Dale, were married
1995 and in December 2005, welcomed a tiny, new addition, Aiden Gentry,
to their family. He is truly a precious gift to them and a miracle from
the hand of God. “Gentry’s” adoption into the Rutland family was
finalized in December 2006.
Every song on this project has been carefully
chosen by Melanie. It is her sincere desire that each listener will be
touched by the music and the message. Her prayer is that the anointing
she felt as she recorded each song, will strike a resounding chord in the
soul of all who hear.
June 2008 - Update
Melanie is enjoying more time now with
her family after taking a break from her nursing career. She is a
stay-at-home mom to Gentry. He is now 2 ½ and definitely a
full-time joy! Melanie and her family recently relocated to the St.
Louis area and are enjoying “life on the farm” replete with chickens, ducks,
farm cats and hound dogs for Gentry to chase around. “I’m really
enjoying this new phase of my life,” she says smiling brightly. “Gentry
will grow up so quickly, and I want to be a part of every moment that I
can be.”
If you are waiting on Melanie’s next album
it will be a while. “I love singing and would love to put together
another album, but I’m focused on my family right now. We’ll see
what the future brings!”
